Best prime rib we’ve ever made. Overall the product delivers. Accurate reading for (so far) large format meats. We used it for our prime rib and turkey, both of which turned out spectacular because of the accuracy of cooking. Easy to set up and has an easy user interface.

YES!!!! This thing is AMAZING. I bought the single Grill Probe because I'm cheap and I didn't know if this was gonna work and the Grill Probe set was too rich for my blood. This bluetooth probe makes me the Pit Master Blaster and all I need is my phone, meat and heat.
The app is helpful when setting it up for the first time with step by step instructions on pairing the probe and the probe's placement. The functionality of the app is also top notch. Simply pick the type of meat, the cut you are cooking and the "doneness" you desire and let it rip.
It has a stupid proof display of the remaining time, internal temp and ambient temp for a more accurate cooking time. It also has a more nerdy graph of temp vs. time that's perfect for satisfying my inner geek but not necessary at all which makes it more nerdy.
The probe is easily cleaned and has enough range when you place the probes "charging/repeater" case in an unobstructed area close to the grill.
Enough Range = Within the back yard of a normal home or apartment building. (Not Bill&Melinda Gates sized back yards. Think Warren Buffet sized) It has two very helpful magnets embedded in the case for convenience. I hang mine on the side of my fridge when not in use.
If you're not a peasant like me and your WiFi reaches your grill then you'll have unlimited range. (Thanks to Al Gore and the app!)
I once left the grill for an emergency beer run and my friend connected to the probe using the app and it simply continued to display the cooking time and temp seamlessly!

If you want/need a bluetooth meat thermometer then buy once, cry once and get this Bad Larry. It won't disappoint you like 2020 has.
P.S. I'm not a robot. I'm a broke Soldier trying not to ruin my meat. (I just wrote "my meat")

This product is extremely accurate when cooking, I was amazed and didn't want to trust it at first because it was conflicting with the Traeger probe. This probe read about 20 degrees lower then the ambient temp of the grill temp, and it was different during cooking with the probe inserting into the food. This probe proved to be more accurate and I over cooked the food thinking the traeger probe was right and I trusted it more. Going forward I used this only and never had the issue again, i just had to make sure the food was cooked to a slightly lower temp that the Grill Probe app suggested so it wasn't over cooked. Great product much cheaper then the grills that come with this functionality for thousands more. (remote temp probe)

I've tried all sorts of high-tech and low-tech thermometers. Last night I used the Grill Probe for sirloin steaks cooked on the gas grill. Setup was easy--just poke it in. No wires to worry about! I put the charging unit near the grill, and went into the house, tracked cooking on my cell. I turned the steak after two minutes, as I usually do. Then Grill Probe told me when to remove the meat from the grill. It then told me to let it rest and told me later when the resting time was over. My wife said it was the most perfectly cooked steak she's ever had.
What's great about Grill Probe is that you don't have any wires to fool with. So you can use it on an outdoor grill or inside in the oven or even in a frying pan or indoor grill. What's also great is that it predicts how long the meat will take to cook, so that you can coordinate the other dishes you're fixing.
I've used it a half dozen times so far, with great results each time. It's a good thing, clearly the best on the market.

I am a semi-professional Q-master. I cook almost weekly and enter competitions. This unit is awesome. If you want to view the data via the internet and monitor your cook remotely (while you go to the store to get more beer); you will need an iPad or other device that is connected to your WiFi and connector to the meter. The probe connects with the probe charger which connects with a device. That device will connect to your WiFi, which connects to the internet. So you can be around the world and still monitor your cook from your cell phone. What a great product.
Oh one more thing, it is vitally important to keep the end (top) of the probe clean (the end opposite of the insertion probe). This is the ambient temperature sensor and is exposed to the ambient conditions. It WILL get covered in all sorts of crud. The top of the probe is the + (positive) terminal for the internal probe battery (the metal probe is the - (negative). So you must clean it with a brillo pad, stainless steel scrubber etc. to get all the gunk off the probe. If not, the probe will not charge when you put it back into the charger. I had this happen to me at a competition. I did not clean the probe properly after my last cook. The probe was not charged and would not register. I scrapped off the top with a pocket knife but it takes 4 hours to charge. Luckily, my wife brought my extra wired thermometers and thus, saved the day. I won the competition but it would have been easier if I cleaned the top correctly. This unit is pricey at about $70 but thus far (10 long cooks) it is well worth the money.

I got this because I left my wired thermomter at my sister's house during Thanksgiving. So I wanted to try a wireless and my search was over when I found this bad boy. It is great. Easy to use. Easy to clean. But not so easy f an app or to stay connected. Really the apps problems stems from the connection issues. You have to keep the box as close to the prob as possible. I found making a brisket in the oven a problem. I had to keep the box ontop of the stove while cooking it. Luckily I so the brisket over night so I don't use the burners. But if I didn't I wouldn't be able to cook until the brisket was out of the oven. Other than that once you find the sweet spot this thing is godly never have I ever found to be cooking and watched my phone just to look at the play by play in the oven. The app even shows you if anyone opens the door to the oven. I cought my wife sneaking a peak at the brisket while I was in my room. I still give it 5 stars because it is a great machine.

So I have held off giving a review because I wanted to use it several times so I could give an honest review. Here we go:
What I like:
1. Easy to use
2. Accurate
3. No wires to connect or hanging out from your grill or oven
4. Easy to use the app. simply walks you through the next steps and monitors your cook
5. Works with your iPhone
6. No more overcooked meat
7. Has a handy "rest" function that lets you know when it is time to cut into your meat. Gives you USDA safety temps
8.Beautiful graphics representations of your cook
9. Handy storage
10. Easy to clean
11. for use indoor and outdoor cooking
12. you can use when you are using your rotisserie (can't do that with a product that needs wires to connect)
13. no need for two probes to monitor the internal temp of meat and the temp of your oven or grill
What needs improvement:
1. needing another smart device to take advantage of the cloud feature (seems wonky, but it does work)
2. price point, but still solid technology for the money
3. if you have the (+) unit, you should not experience problems with the distance and dropped Bluetooth signal
4. App needs to be updated so you can monitor more than meat, like baked potatoes or the like.
5 That's it!
Basically, i have spent a lot of cash looking for something that would help me better gage internal temp and cook the perfect steak or pork chop. I've bought various wired units and while they work well, the concept of hanging wires is just too outdated. Not to mention, it is difficult to keep those wires cleaned, and then there is storage.. what a pain.
Would I buy this again or recommend it to a friend?
1. Yes, yes and yes (and I am not being paid for this review)

5 stars, I am loving the Grill Probe so far! For me it was easy to use, works fine despite the negative reviews, and is almost too handy. I don't know what all the negative reviews are, but I suspect alot of it is operator error and or not following the instructions. I did get the "gen 2" model though, maybe they worked all the kinks out by Gen 2.
That said, I have owned the unit for just over a month. I have used the unit at least 5 times. 3 of those 5 times were just tests to make sure the unit works and was accurate. It did, and it was.
Since testing I have done 2 cooks with the unit. The first cook was "open air" on a large rotisserie cooking a whole lamb. That went well. The other cook was a 1.5" thin rib-eye completely enclosed inside a smoker.
On the smoker cook, I put the charger/repeater about 5 feet from the smoker, and had no issues with connectivity at all. Admittedly, I did not test to see if the full range of 33 feet was accomplished with this configuration, but it did work fine for me while I wandered around between 25 -30 feet away. I mentioned the completely enclosed detail because so many said they could not get theirs to even work in this situation. As mentioned above, I think if you follow the directions, the unit works fine. I also want to mention that for this cook the smoker was set to a temp of 450. The unit too the heat no problem and is still working.
Clean up is easy, you can definitely get the thing wet and it will survive as long as you don't leave it submerged.
Pros
Very handy, small, wireless, app tells you when you hit the target.
Cons
I wish the charger had more indication on it, or an additional probe is fully charged indicator.
One thing to note: If you are cooking a steak or smaller piece of meat at a high temp, I would recommend setting the desired temp a few degrees lower than what you want the final temp of the meat to be due to the continued cooking effect after removing the meat from the heat. This has nothing to do with the operation of the Grill Probe.

Avid backyard barbecuer. Was in the market to replace my oldschool thermometer dial probe with a digital one and came across the Grill Probe. Checked out their site and compared to some of the other digital ones the design and description of the Meater+ caught my attention so I decided to try it out. Skeptical because I just spent $100 on a thermometer but I have to say it was money well spent. I like the compact design and magnetic battery cover. The phone app was easy to navigate through, thermometer was easy to turn on and once I had everything set and the meat on the grill the rest was easy also. I just left it alone and reluctantly walked away - I’m usually one to stand by the grill and tend to the meat. Had no problem keeping tabs from my phone inside or out in front of the house. Got the 130 temp notification and cut my steak in half to see a perfect medium rare. Can’t wait to try it on other meats on the grill and I’m going to get another to keep and use in the kitchen. Highly recommend as a bbq and kitchen tool.

When I found out that an even longer ranged version of this product came out I had to get it. I love the original thermometer but to get the extra range I needed a second phone of which I do not have. But anyway, having this plus version really helps. It's really smart of them to put a signal booster for the Bluetooth inside the charger! When you use it though make sure to keep the charger close to your oven. If you're on the fence about spending the extra $$ for this plus version, don't be, get the plus...you'll thank me later.

My previous digital thermometer broke so I stumped up the bucks for a wireless model. My small oven will not work with the door unlatched so cannot run a wire.
Out of the box the thing seams to be very good quality, stainless steel and strong magnets on the Wooden case / Bluetooth repeater.
The good,
it’s appears very accurate, I’ve done a rib eye roast and a pork fillet both cooked to a perfect medium rare. The cooking / resting times were very accurate and the app is Super simple to use.
The not so good: (all pretty minor)
It took a bit of faffing around to position the Bluetooth repeater on the outside of the oven, so it is aligned with antenna in the probe so the signal doesn’t drop out. I’ve not tried it with a joint rotating in the oven but believe there could be connectivity issues, should be able to work it out though- the documentation appears a bit limited on this. Is the antenna linear or circular polarised, is there a preferred alignment etc etc
the probe is double the diameter of a normal wired thermocouple probe not an issue for large joints or chickens etc but it left a big hole in the middle a pork tenderloin (having said that I don’t really need a thermometer for pork tenderloin after searing on the stove it’s 10mins at 170’C in my oven to slightly pink and juicy) I mainly got this for reverse searing large joints and the BBQ.
Not had it Long enough to comment on reliability / longevity of the device but yes I would definitely recommend it, even though it’s triple the price or more that of a good quality wired thermometer.

First, I LOVE this thing!
Second, I have one reservation - when I purchased it I *thought* it was going to tell me what time to take meat off the grill so that *after* resting, it would meet the pre-set temperature goal. It doesn't seem to do that, so I still have to predict how much more cooking will go on after taking the meat off the grill.
STILL , this is a GREAT tool! I love being able to see the temperature in real-time, without having to open the grill/oven! With traditional thermometers I was always over-cooking because the internal temperature seemed to speed up as it approached my desired goal. With Grill probe, I no longer have that problem - and it alerts me as it gets close with an audible alarm!

This is an excellent product. It works as intended. Works great for thick steaks and roasts. Does not work well for low and slow rib smoking since you will get false readings. By false readings, I mean that the probe and app requires you to set a target temperature and there is no way set-up a cook based solely on ambient temperature and time.
Krunchy
I've only used this on 2 cooks so far; a rotisserie port roast and for some reverse sear steaks. I did remove the probe prior to searing as it was going over an 1800 degree infrared burner and I didn't want to risk damaging the ambient sensor.

I've used the probe long enough and with enough types of meat to give a good assessment. First, the bamboo holder/charger/connection point is brilliant and looks nice anywhere you put it. The app on Android is very easy to use and set up. The range is also great.

I picked this up after watching Guga Foods, a youtube channel, use this device. No wires, I'm in! When I received the item, everything felt to be amazing quality. The wooden case is an excellent finish and fit for the probe that it placed on. The probe was a bit thicker than I had expected, which made it just slightly harder to probe meat. Not a big deal. Maybe a problem for thinner meats.
The app is super simple: you probe it in, select your desired meat and temperature, and read the temperature readings. Actually, it even gives you a timer that rings 5 min before the temperature in case you are away from the device. The readings themselves come in two ways: internal and ambient temperature. Internal is the meat, and ambient is the oven temperature. The readings have a bit of a delay, but for baking, it's not that big of a deal. The internal temperature is spot on accurate, but the ambient temperature takes a long time to heat up and almost never displays the correct temperature. Although, for some reason the predicted time to cook is usually accurate.
33ft seems accurate for this, as I can go to my living room right next to my kitchen, but no further. You also should keep the probe between you and the probe. Overall, this is a great product to have, but it is definitely a high end purchase for those who really want to be wire-free.

As a UDS/charcoal user w/o a thermostat like on a Traeger, I am compelled to know what my smoker's ambient temp is to make sure it's not getting too hot or too cool due to whatever variables. The disparity on the ambient temp is just way too large. For example: I am early into smoking a turkey breast roast as I type this up (and I did a chicken last weekend with similar results): my two other probe systems show the ambient temp is 252/253F, but the probe is showing 196F. If I saw 196F on my regular probe, I'd be going out there stoking the fire or seeing if one of the kids closed the damper on me. "Well are the probes near each other?" Admittedly not as close today, but on the chicken the probes were all nearly touching at the same point for about an hour and consistently showed about a 50F difference until towards the end.
It's a reluctant deal-breaker for me, but maybe not for you. The internal temp is spot-on, it has a fantastic app, and I get really good range on it w/my Android device. How good? I have the repeater on a window sill by my back patio where the smoker is. I can go upstairs w/o issues, but I lose signal if I go out the front door. I love the charting, the cook completion estimate (though this takes a while to kick in and fluctuates greatly based on temp rise), how easy it is to clean and charge... it has so much going on for it!

Thank you. Description exact. The connection is air-resistant meters 10. when the thermometer is in the oven, it is better to hold closer to 3 - 5 meters. Then the connections are unstable.
I have not tried it yet. But the ambient temperature measured exactly.

Delivery surprisingly fast in Krasnoyarsk passed in 10 days. Packing in good condition, packing a thermometer in perfect condition, the thermometer was charged in 5 minutes, when turning on immediately with the phone, all functions are managed, in work until I tried

Very easy to use. Download the recommended App in and connect the bluetooth and it immediately detects it and you can select the type of meat and cooking. I haven't been able to test it in the oven yet and see the coverage issue. The only catch is that in the box outside it says it takes 5 minutes to load and in the instructions of inside says 10 minutes. Anyway it loads quickly.
